The Journey so far...

8 George Street, Te Puke, was purchased by Te Puke Baptist Church more than 20 years ago and, until it’s recent demolition, has been housing people from our local community.
A team from TPBC was put together in 2020 to research, dream and create plans for the development of this section with our local hapori in mind.
We asked the question;  What is the best use of this land in God's eyes?

After community consultation, a vision has formed to develop this asset to help meet Te Puke’s crucial need for quality, affordable housing for people aged 65 yrs+

So, what's the plan?

Fast forward to today, we have a 788 sqm free-hold clear residential section ready for development!
We are planning to build a six-unit Community Housing Initiative for Residents aged 65 years +  right next door to the church.
The Western Bay of Plenty District Council has endorsed the Evergreen House project in a significant way by reducing the development contribution costs (Council FINCO fees).  We are thrilled with this vote of confidence and believe it is recognition that Evergreen House is meeting a genuine need in our community.  Evergreen House will provide a warm, modern, well-constructed home and quality, independent living for six tenants.

It's in the details...

Unit 1, closest to George Street, has 2 bedrooms and totals 85sqm

Units 2-6 are all single bedroom units at 60sqm in floor area

Each unit has its own designated carpark adjacent to the property

Resource Consent Obtained with Building Consent in processing.

Future-proofed through level-entry and accessible design partnered with quality materials to ensure ease of use for any residents with disabilities

We have journeyed with G J Gardner Homes, and have a contract build price from them, which is unsigned at present (July 2023) as we explore funding options to enable us to build

So, we are working toward the funding side of the journey at present.

This also includes funding for the ‘non-building’ needs of the project – fencing, paths, clotheslines, lawn laying, decking, and landscaping, etc
