Build Contract signing

We have reached a SIGNIFICANT milestone in our Evergreen House project.

In the photo above is the Jabez Initiative directors and Shane McConnell of GJ Gardner Homes with a signed build contract for the construction of Evergreen House – woohoo!

Shane has been incredibly generous towards this project, and calls Evergreen House his ‘passion project’.

He’s been such a blessing on this journey, and we’re excited to partner with GJ Gardner Homes to see Evergreen House become a reality.

This contract has been signed conditional on receiving approval for ‘funding of public housing’ from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MHUD).  Assuming approval comes through from MHUD in October and works can commence, we could be welcoming in our first tenants into Evergreen House by the middle of 2025.  How exciting!

We have received Provisional Lifemark 4-Star certification for all 6 units 🎉

A large amount of voluntary work has gone into this behind the scenes by the Cornerstone Design ladies and we so appreciate it!

Amazing news - a surprise pledge today means that we’ve cracked the $500k fundraising threshold!!

How GOOD is our GOD 🙌

This is the budget milestone that “makes the numbers work” and propels us closer to Evergreen House becoming a reality.

We’ll continue to work hard to raise more funds to cover some exclusions (IE decking, signage, landscaping etc) and, ideally, to borrow less!  But, the $500k mark is pretty darned exciting for us as a team!

Soil Jars

On Sunday June 2nd, we walked over to the site after our morning service and prayed together as a church whanau.
We thanked God for his faithfulness and provision and asked for protection over the construction to come and the future residents.
We broke ground and filled these little jars of dirt for people to take home to act as a reminder to pray for the project – prayer is powerful & we value yours!

The existing dwelling had to be demolished to make way for the new.

We think our builder rather enjoyed himself!
